Credit Where Credit is Due…

I hope that all AWAL members enjoy the association’s 2017 Calendar!  I must, however, highlight a mistake that was made in providing credit for the fantastically colourful lineup of Yaks taxiing for departure at Watts Bridge.  We received a copy of the picture from member Ian Eccles and have improperly mentioned him as the photographer.  In fact, the photographer is Tom Fisher.  Many of you would know or recognize Tom as a regular fixture at fly-ins and air shows, particularly in Southeast Qld.

This picture really grabbed me straightaway when I first saw it!  I knew it would make the final cut and be featured in our calendar.  Tom deserves full credit for a wonderful shot, and we are certain to see more from him going forward.

On behalf of AWAL, I offer my sincere apologies to Tom for this error.

CEO’s Update, November 2016

Well, our 2016 AGM has come and gone.  I would like to thank all who assisted in making it a successful event, particularly our Admin Manager Robyn Waller.

I would also like to thank outgoing President Alex Von Mengersen for his many years of selfless service to the association and its members.  His presence on the Board will be sorely missed.

Finally, I would like to offer my congratulations to our new Board Member Scotty Taberner.  I have no doubts that Scotty’s years of experience and passion as a warbird owner/operator and maintenance engineer places him in an excellent position to contribute substantially to our association and movement.

Best regards,

Welcome to AWAL’s New Website!

I would like to welcome you to AWAL’s new and improved website!  It has been under consideration and development for some time, but the wait – we hope – will prove to be worth it.

The Members Login feature will allow all current AWAL members to ensure contact information is up-to-date.  In addition, critical dates such as membership and aircraft permission expiries will be listed.  Dues and fees can now be paid directly through our site, with the knowledge that your transaction is secure.

If you are looking to purchase a warbird flight experience, you can find one here from our list of operators, directly on our website and without having to go through a third-party!  Only our site can guarantee that all flights listed are with operators that have been approved as fully compliant with existing rules and regulations.  Simply click on the ‘Adventure Flights’ tab to browse through the many warbird flight options.

In addition to flights, various warbird clothing and gifts can be purchased through our ‘Warbirds Store’.

Please check back regularly for updates on warbird news and upcoming events.

Safe flying!
